No matter where she is, no matter how fast asleep she is, as soon as my cat, Chanel, hears the pop of a lid being lifted off a can of Fancy Feast, she comes running to the kitchen. She knows the sound of that little tin being opened and meows in eager anticipation. As I scoop the meat morsels onto her plate she licks her lips.
As I move away from the kitchen counter and walk to her feeding place, she follows me, her eyes like lasers on the plate. What will it be today? Beef, chicken, tuna? Not that it matters to Chanel, she gobbles it all up until there is nothing left, not even a drop of gravy.
Manufactured by Nestle Purina PetCare Company, based in St. Louis, USA, Fancy Feast is more than cat food in a tin, it is a gourmet meal. I know it and cat owners around the world know it. Our furry friends and companions can be notoriously fussy with what they eat; but when it comes to Fancy Feast, they seem to be quite pleased with what appears on their plate. With a variety of grilled, sliced, marinated, minced, gourmet, roasted, flaked and chunky meats or fish, there is something for everybody. The fifty different varieties mean that cats never have to grow bored of their dinner as each meal can be different. But meat or fish, with or without gravy, is not all Fancy Feast has to offer, there is also a selection of souffls.
Whether it is tender turkey, yellow fin tuna, white meat chicken, wild salmon or seafood and egg, each dish is guaranteed purrrrfect satisfaction. In addition to wet food, Fancy Feast also offers three varieties of dry food: Filet Mignon flavour with real Seafood & Shrimp, Ocean Fish & Salmon and Savoury Chicken & turkey.Like packaging of all wet and dry products, Fancy Feast provides a full list of ingredients and advises how much to feed a cat per weight. They also advise the introduction of new foods gradually as to not upset sensitive stomachs. Also stressed is the importance of fresh water on a daily basis.
During the recent contaminated pet food scandal, Fancy Feast remained free and clear of any harmful substances in their pet food. A message on the home page of their website stated that all pet owners could shop with complete confidence.
I admit that in an attempt to provide Chanel with the best food possible, I have slipped away and tried other brands-from supermarket brand food, to top of the line pet store brands. In the process I forked out quite a bit of money. I could have saved myself the trouble and the expense. Chanel took one whiff at the new food and walked away. Some cats like variety and some do not.
My Chanel gives the Fancy Feast cat food product an enthusiastic two paws up!

I have been feeding my cats Iams dry food for about seven years. I currently have four cats. Two of them are seven years old, one is three and the fourth is around seven months old. I originally purchased Iams because it was one of the more reasonably priced “high-end” cat foods. I believe it was also recommended to me by a relative. I have never met a cat that didn’t like the taste of Iams. In fact, I have several obviously well-fed cats in my neighborhood who come by for a taste.
Over the years I have purchased other brands in the same “high-end” category because I had a coupon or they were on sale and not one of them has been such a hit with my babies as Iams. Since my cats are so spread out in age, I buy the Multiple Cats formula, which is available in two flavors. My cats like both flavors equally. I am convinced that Iams is the best food for my cats because they are all at a healthy weight and all of them have high energy levels. Even my seven year-olds are full of vigor and will play kitten games occasionally. All of my cats have very healthy, shiny coats. Their eyes are clear and I haven’t seen any problems with their vision. They are all very aware of and active in their surroundings. I keep dry food out for them at all times and they never over-eat. When I do offer them wet food, they don’t eat very much because their regular diet keeps them happy and sated. I don’t know all about the Iams company or how the make the food, but the results I see with my four cats is all the proof I need that Iams is an excellent product. As I mentioned before, Iams is reasonably priced, which is very important since I am feeding three adult cats and one kitten (not to mention the three “regulars” I see visiting my porch).
When my kitten was weaning from the bottle to dry food, I fed him Iams kitten formula in wet first, then dry. He was reluctant to drink formula from a bowl and give up the bottle (he kepy chewing the nipples off). So I tried tantalizing him with some wet food to see if that would motivate him to eat ad drink from a dish. Oh boy, once he smelled that wet food, I threw all his bottles away! He learned real quick how to eat and drink from a dish, so I was able to get him his kitten milk too without risking him choking on a chewed-off nipple.
So, from kitten to adolescent to senior, Iams is working out for me and my feline buddies. We all agree that this food is number one for nutrition and flavor (I will have to take their purrs on that one). With all this great experience, I will stick with Iams as long as I have a cat-or four:)

How can you love your cats and save money at the same time? I’m going to share a few tips I’ve learned over the years that will help you provide a wonderful loving home and quality care for your furry little feline buddies on a relatively small budget.
Cat food will probably be the biggest expense in your weekly budget. Do your cats need the most expensive food on the market to live a healthy life? Pet stores will preach to you about the many benefits of feeding your cats the ultimate pet food, but I tend to believe that they’re more concerned about profits than about the health of your pet. Frankly, I think it’s crazy to feed my cats better food than I eat!
I’ve never used the cheapest pet food on the market because I don’t trust the quality of the ingredients. I’ve always had pretty good luck with the mid-priced pet foods that most grocery stores offer, and I look for sales and use manufacturer coupons whenever possible. I mix different brands of dry food in a large bucket so the cats have a nice variety, but aren’t subjected to sudden changes in their diet that may adversely affect their digestive process.
I leave a bowl of dry food for our cats to graze on during the day, and they always look forward to getting their portion of wet food in the morning and evening. I split a can (or pouch)of wet food between our two cats, and that has always been plenty for them to eat without waste. Our veterinarians have always liked our idea of feeding them both wet and dry food, but suggested we cut back the steady supply of dry food during the day if the cats get overweight.
Cat treats can be very expensive, and I really didn’t realize how expensive they were until I looked at the price per pound. Typical pouches of cat treats weigh about four ounces and cost about $1.50 on average. If you figure out the price per pound, you’re paying about $9.00 per pound for pet food! I rarely eat steaks that cost that much!
A little trick I’ve learned is to mix the expensive cat treats with regular dry food; I then place the “treat mix” in a different location than where I feed them their regular food, and believe it or not, they actually think it’s all cat treats! I was so thrilled with myself when I discovered this effective little deception, but my wife was quick to shoot me down for feeling so smart about outsmarting a cat!
I’ve always fed our cats “table scraps” without any apparent problems. Scraps of chicken, chicken livers, turkey, beef, or fish are a
